Note: this is the final bowl game that will be played before the BCS National Championship Game on Monday night.

Despite the fact that Kent State is the #25 ranked team in the nation, Arkansas State has the slight edge in this game, at least according to Las Vegas bookmakers.

Both teams are dealing with coaching changes, as Darrell Hazell (Kent State) has already signed on to lead Purdue next season, while Gus Malzahn (Arkansas State) will be starting at Auburn next season.

Darrell Hazell has decided to stick around for one last game at Kent State in the hopes of securing the school's first ever bowl victory. Gus Malzahn, on the other hand, has already departed for Auburn.

Kent State finished their season with a record of 11-2, including a perfect 8-0 record in their conference. Kent State's two losses this season came at the hands of Kentucky (47-14) and Northern Illinois (44-37).

Kent State managed to score 49 offensive touchdowns this season, and averaged nearly 400 yards per game of offense. The problem for Kent State? Their porous defense which allowed over 420 yards per game of offense and 40 touchdowns.

Arkansas State, on the other hand, finished their campaign with a record of 9-3, including a record of 7-1 in their conference. Arkansas State's three losses this season came at the hands of Oregon, Nebraska and Western Kentucky.

Arkansas State possesses one of the nation's best offences, as they managed to score 54 touchdowns and rack up over 480 yards per game of offence. Their offence is well-balanced, averaging over 200 yards per game both through the air and on the ground.
