Sports Nicknames - Rowdy, Baddest Woman on the Planet



Ronda Rousey is a Judo champion, professional wrestler, mixed martial arts expert and an actress from California, United States. At one point in time she was known as the 'Baddest Woman on the Planet' to fans and media alike.

Early in her career, after taking on after her mom who was a Judo champion, Ronda Rousey won the gold medal in World Junior Judo Championships. She also won the Judo World Cup in 2006, as well as the bronze medal at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China.

After retiring from Judo, in 2011 Ronda Rousey entered the world of MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) and joined Strikeforce, where she become a champion in 2012. She was the first female to sign with UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championships), where she had an outstanding career with a legendary title reign and multi-million dollar pay-per-views. After winning the title in Bantamweight division, she defended it on six occasions, which was a record at the time. Ronda Rousey was on an 11-fight winning streak, 9 of which she won by the armbar technique. She was the number one female pound-for-pound MMA fighter for a very long time.

After her success in the UFC, Ronda Rousey had a status of a superstar and she featured in several mainstream films such as Furious 7, Entourage and Expandables 3.

In 2018 Ronda joined the WWE circuit, where she gained even more fame and is also a champion. Her nickname 'Rowdy' is actually a borrowed nickname from her childhood hero, wrestler Roddy Piper. She asked him for permission to use it, which he gladly granted.

Ronda Rousey is the first female fighter ever to enter the UFC Hall of Fame.
