Pau Gasol, from Barcelona, Spain, started his basketball career with FC Barcelona. His standout play in Europe led to his selection as the third overall pick in the 2001 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks.

Known for his technical skill and adaptability on the court, Gasol became a six-time NBA All-Star and won two NBA championships with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2009 and 2010.

Kobe Bryant, known for giving unique nicknames to his teammates, called Gasol "Pablo," referencing Pablo Escobar. The aim was to bring out Gasol's aggressive playing style and to inspire his killer instinct.

Gasol played a key role in the Spanish national team, winning the FIBA World Championship in 2006, two Olympic silver medals, and a bronze. He has been a role model in Spain, helping to popularize the sport of basketball.

To honor his impact, the Los Angeles Lakers put Gasol's jersey on display in the rafters of their crypto.com arena.
