Sports Nicknames - Ibra

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is one of the most well known footballers of the past 20 years. He is known for his goal-scoring, his trophy winning and (perhaps most of all) his PR abilities and brash persona. Over time, pundits and fans have shortened his name to "Ibra" and people will know who they are talking about.

Zlatan was born in Sweden and chose Sweden as his nationality, even though he was eligible to play for Bosnia and Herzegovina. The big man moved around clubs in his early career, playing for Malmo FF, Ajax, and Juventus in the first 5 years of his professional career. After the Calciopoli scandal in 2006, he moved to Inter Milan for 4 years until Barcelona became his new club. Ibra didn't fit well at Barca, so he was loaned to AC Milan before signing for them for a year. His longest stint was with Paris Saint-Germain, before moving to Manchester United, LA Galaxy and finally returning to Milan, where he currently plays.

Across these many clubs, Zlatan's trophy cabinet has been filled to the brim. He has won 4 (non-revoked) Serie A titles, 4 Ligue 1 titles, 1 Europa League, 2 Eredivisie titles, 1 La Liga title and a host of different cup competitions. In all, he has won 31 major competitions throughout his career. Interestingly, as his career has gone on, he has seemingly improved at goalscoring, with the PSG stint and onwards seeing the best goal returns since his Inter days.

The all-time Swedish goalscorer loves the spotlight on him. Thanks to his trophy haul and goal-scoring abilities, Zlatan has made sure that it has stayed on him for over 21 years. Will Zlatan ever retire and put these days behind him? Zlatan doesn't retire; the world retires from Zlatan.
