Sports Nicknames - Pepo

Federico Chiesa is one of the best wingers in the world showcasing his talent on the biggest football stages for Juventus and the Italian national team.



The 24-year old has quickly emerged from just another young talent to a real superstar.

Nicknamed "Pepo", Chiesa reached his full potential in Fiorentina and made the move of his career to the rival Juventus.

Chiesa's biggest accomplishment in his young career came with the Italian national team. "Pepo" was one of the key players of the 2020 EURO as Italy defeated England after a penalty shootout in the finals. Unfortunately, Chiesa suffered an injury in the final match but gave his contribution earlier in the tournament.

He scored the opening goal in Italy's 2-1 extra-time win over Austria in the round of 16. As his father scored in 1996, Enrico and Federico became the first father and son duo to score at the EURO.

"Pepo" was the crucial player for Italy once again as he scored in the semi-finals against Spain in a match that finished 4-2 for the "Azzurri" in the penalty shootout.
