Widely known by his nicknames "Bobby Manc" and "Mancio", Mancini was one of the best forwards of his generation, and was best known for his time at Sampdoria, where he played 424 official games, and helped the team win their only Serie A trophy, four Italian Cups and the European Cup Winners' Cup.

As a manager, "Mancio" won three Serie A titles, two Coppa Italia titles, and two Supercoppa Italiana titles with Inter Milan.

He proved that he can also be successful away from his country as he won the Premier League, the FA Cup, and the 2012 FA Community Shield with Manchester City.

Individually, Mancini has won Guerin d'Oro twice, Serie A Footballer of the Year and Panchina d'Oro. In 2015 he was inducted into the Italian Football Hall of Fame and four years later he won the Enzo Bearzot Award and the Italian Sportsman of the Year.
