The Fighting Fifth Hurdle takes place in the late fall of every year and is the first leg of the Triple Crown of Hurdling.

The event takes place at the Newcastle Racecourse in Newcastle, England, and is open to horses aged four and up.

Newcastle Racecourse, where the race is held, is known for its testing conditions, especially during the winter months. This often makes the Fighting Fifth Hurdle a grueling test of stamina and jumping ability.

As a Grade 1 race, it attracts some of the top hurdlers. It is an important early-season contest and is often used as a preparatory race for the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham, one of the most prestigious hurdle races in the National Hunt calendar.
