The Top 10 Biggest Spending Clubs in the 2013 Summer Transfer Season

Here we take a look at the football clubs that have invested the most in new players during the summer transfer window of 2013.

The number we are comparing is the difference between the amount spent on new players and the amount earned from player sales.

AS Monaco -140.756.000 £

The newly promoted Ligue 1 team AS Monaco were the team that invested most heavily this summer. AS Monaco's expenditures on new players total 146.256.000 £ and their total revenues from player sales amount to 5.500.000 £. Falcao (52.8 mil £), James Rodriguez (39.6 mil £) and Joao Moutinho (22 mil £) are the big names that have been added to the squad.

Manchester City -91.777.849 £

Manchester City spent 102.080.000 £ on new players this summer and they earned 10.302.160 £ from player sales. The most expensive additions to the team were Fernandinho (35.2 mil £), Stevan Jovetic (22.8 mil £) and Alvaro Negredo (22 mil £), while the biggest sale was Carlos Tevez (7.9 mil £).

Paris Saint-Germain -74.272.000 £

PSG's big signings this summer were Edinson Cavani (56.8 mil £) and Marquinhos (27.6 mil £). Their biggest sale was Memadou Sakho (16.7 mil £).

Real Madrid -58.960.000 £

Real Madrid were very active this summer. The total amount spent on new players amounts to 159.720.000 £ and the total revenue generated from player sales adds up to 100.760.000 £. The biggest summer signings were Gareth Bale (88 mil £), Asier Illarramendi (34.3 mil £) and Isco (26.4 mil £), while the biggest sales were Mesut Ozil (44 mil £) and Gonzalo Higuain (32.6 mil £).

Chelsea FC -57.376.000 £

The two biggest signings for Chelsea FC this summer were Willian (31.2 mil £) and Andre Schurrle (19.3 mil £), while Romelu Lukaku was the biggest sale (3 mil £).

Dinamo Moscow -43.032.000 £

Dinamo brought eight players from Anzhi this summer, among others. Aleksandr Kokorin (16.7 mil £), Igor Denisov (13.2 mil £) and Yuri Zhirkov (9.7 mil £) were the most expensive additions.

Olympique Marseille -37.356.000 £

Olympique Marseille's big signings during the transfer season were Florian Thauvin (13.2 mil £) and Dimitri Payet (7.7 mil £).

FC Barcelona -36.872.000 £

Barcelona's big summer signing was Neymar (50.1 mil £), while Thiago Alcantara (22.000.000) was their biggest sale.

Dynamo Kyiv -36.256.000

Dynamo's biggest signings this summer were Dieumerci Mbokani (9.7 mil £), Younes Belhanda (9.7 mil £), Jeremain Lens (7.9 mil £) and Aleksandar Dragovic (7.9 mil £).

Arsenal FC -36.036.000 £

Mezut Ozil (44 mil £) was Arsenal's biggest signing this summer, while Gervinho (7 mil £) was the most expensive player that was let go.
