Mexico Has Clear Advantage To Win

It's an exciting weekend for soccer lovers as there is a large slate of World Cup qualifying games taking place all across the globe.

The Americas are having their games over the next couple of days, with the likes of the United States, Canada and Mexico all in action.

Mexico will be travelling to take on El Salvador in a game that gets underway later today.

Mexico has been the cream of the crop of the North, Central America and Caribbean groups so far, as they have managed to notch a perfect 4-0-0 record. In addition, Mexico has not allowed a single goal as of yet. Mexico has already advanced to the fifth round of qualifying - they are the only team to have done so up until this point.

There is plenty on the line for the likes of Honduras and Canada, as they can still secure a birth in the fifth round if they can finish the fourth round strong.

Despite the fact that Mexico has nothing to play for, they are still the clear favourites to win on Friday. Here are the current betting odds:

El Salvador, 7/1
Draw, 7/2
Mexico, 2/5

Despite the fact that they are on the road tonight, and despite the fact that they have nothing to play for, Mexico is still the heavy favourite to win. That should tell you just how good their team is - unless something completely unexpected happens, Mexico should absolutely qualify for a World Cup spot in Russia in 2018.

Honduras, which has scored just two goals in the fourth round of qualifying, will need to figure out a way through a Mexican defense that has completely flummoxed their opposition so far. Mexico has a number of very talented players on their roster, which makes El Salvador's task very hard. Don't expect Mexico to take their foot off the gas too much, as they need to stay sharp for the fifth round of qualifying, which is looming on the horizon in November.
