Edson Barboza vs Kevin Lee has some important implications for the Lightweight division, as an impressive victory for Lee would potentially vault him into the crowd Lightweight title discussion. As we've seen many times in the past, Lee has a magnetic personality and the gift for gab, which is usually enough to vault a person above perhaps more deserving fighters.
Both Barboza and Lee are coming off of losses to top Lightweight fighters, as Lee was submitted by Tony Ferguson while Edson Barboza was pummelled by Khabib Nurmagomedov.
