UEFA Europa League has been dominated by the Spanish team Sevilla in recent years. Bet on the next winner.History:

The competition had been started in 1971 as the UEFA Cup. Prior to the competition, another similar event was organized under the name of the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup. The all-English final of the inaugural edition attracted great response and audiences as Spurs triumphed against the Wolverhampton Wanderers to take the first title home. In 1999, UEFA merged the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup and UEFA Cup under the banner of the UEFA Cup. This was an attempt to further expand the competition and improve its engagements.

Rebranding as the UEFA Europa League:

This was followed by another important merger in 2009-10 when UEFA Intertoto Cup was merged with the UEFA Cup, and the competition was rebranded as the UEFA Europa League. Since then, the league has had extended groups and a more comprehensive format, made possible by a longer window for the competition in the UEFA Calendar.

Format:

The qualification for the Europa League's group stages takes place on the basis of UEFA Coefficients and rankings of associations. Following the complexities of qualification, 32 sides compete in the group stages of the UEFA Europa League. These second-tier sides are divided into 8 groups, with 4 teams in each group.

As per the current format, the top teams from each group qualify for the round of 16, while the second-placed teams compete against the 8 relegated teams from the UEFA Champions League. These are the teams that finish third in the 8 groups of the UEFA Champions League and fail to qualify for the knockouts of the UEFA Champions League.

Instead, these teams compete in the round of 32 of UEFA Europa League against second-placed sides in the Europa League groups. The winners of this knockout phase play the round of 16 matches against the 8 group-stage winners. UEFA chose this format and qualification pathway to increase the overall standard and competitiveness of the UEFA Champions League.

The round of 32, round of 16, Quarter Finals, and Semi-Finals are decided through Europa League Draws.

Past Winners:

The winners of the Europa League directly qualify for the group stage of the UEFA Champions League. Over the years, 27 different clubs have won the UEFA Europa League. The following clubs have been the most successful ones in the league's history.

Sevilla:

The Spanish football club Sevilla leads the charts in Europa League with 6 titles in 2006, 2007, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2020.

Inter Milan:

The Italian Football Club Inter-Milan has also enjoyed great success in the UEFA Europa League with 3 titles during the 1990s. These victorious campaigns came in 1991, 1994, and 1998.

Liverpool:

Liverpool FC has been the most successful English Club in the UEFA Europa League, with 3 titles in 1973, 1976, and 2001.

Juventus:

Juventus has also won the Europa League thrice, with titles in 1977, 1990, and 1993.

Atletico Madrid:

Atletico Madrid is another team with three titles in the UEFA Europa League that came in 2010, 2012, and 2018.

Reigning Champions:

The German football club, Eintracht Frankfurt, is the reigning champion as they won the UEFA Europa League final against Rangers Football Club in the 2021-22 season.

2022-23 Season of the UEFA Europa League:
