Date: 2024.08.09 - Event Final
Contest: OLYMPICS
Location: Paris, France
The Triple Jump is an exciting and technical event in the Olympics, where athletes perform a hop, a step, and a jump to cover the greatest possible distance.
This event has been a part of the modern Olympic Games since their inception in 1896 for men and was introduced for women in 1996.
Athletes start with a run-up, building momentum before the first phase, the hop. In the hop, the athlete takes off and lands on the same foot. The second phase, the step, involves landing on the opposite foot. Finally, in the jump phase, the athlete leaps into the sandpit, aiming for maximum distance.
The jump is measured from the takeoff line to the nearest mark made in the sandpit. If the athlete oversteps the takeoff line, the jump is considered a foul and does not count. Each athlete gets six attempts to achieve their best distance.
