Bam Adebayo Scores 83.
The Complete History of NBA Single-Game Scoring Records.
Adebayo is now #2 all-time, behind only Wilt's untouchable 100. We trace every time the record was broken - from Elgin Baylor to tonight.
Bam Just Entered the Most Exclusive Club in Basketball History
Before tonight, the list of players to score 80+ points in a single NBA game had exactly one name: Kobe Bryant, January 22, 2006, 81 points. That list now has two names. Bam Adebayo scored 83 tonight, drawing an absurd 26 fouls and going 36-for-43 from the free throw line in a 150-129 Heat blowout. He is now #2 all-time - only Wilt's 100 remains ahead of him.
The number that stood out: 36 free throws made. He basically had his own personal foul game inside the game. The Heat winning by 21 matters too - this wasn't stat-padding in garbage time. He scored 83 in a blowout he caused.

The Seasons Behind the Biggest Performances
What It Takes to Score 80+
Three performances of 80+ in NBA history. All three share one ingredient: absurd free throw volume. Wilt shot 32 FTA for his 100. Kobe attempted 20 for his 81. Bam attempted 43 tonight - the most in any 80+ point game ever.
"He shot 43 free throws. Most teams don't get to 43 free throw attempts in a game. Bam basically had his own personal foul game inside the game."
