The race, which is open to 3-year old thoroughbred colts and fillies, has been run since 1809. The race takes place at Rowley Mile in Newmarket, Suffolk, England, and is run on a straight turf track with a distance of 1,609 meters.

The total purse size was £500,000 in 2018, with £283,550 having been handed out to the winner.
