When you think of possible players who unanimously won the Offensive Rookie of the Year award in the NFL, who would you consider as possibilities?
Cam Newton?
Adrian Peterson?
Barry Sanders?
All great choices, and all came within a few votes of receiving the unanimous nod for Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Since the inception of the award, only three players - Ben Roethlisberger, Anqua
n Boldin and Marcus Allen - have received each and every vote.
-
Ben Roethlisberger won the starting job for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2004, and literally didn't lose a game as a starter, going 13-0-0.
Roethlisberger was extremely steady and solid in his rookie campaign, throwing for 17 touchdowns and just 11 interceptions.
Given that the 2004 NFL Draft included quarterbacks such as Eli Manning and Philip Rivers, Big Ben did very well to receive the Rookie of the Year award.
Anquan Boldin exploded out of the gates in his 2003 rookie campaign, compiling 1,377 receiving yards and 8 receiving touchdowns. Boldin quickly established himself as one of the top receivers in the NFL and would enjoy seven fruitful years with the Arizona Cardinals, before moving onto the Baltimore Ravens.
Rookie Marcus Allen finished second in Offensive Player of the Year voting in th
e strike-shortened 1982 season, so it only stands to reason that he would win Rookie of the Year as well.
Allen found the endzone 14 times in just nine games in 1982, and had nearly 1,100 scrimmage yards. Truly one of the best offensive rookie campaigns of all time.

Voters can be fickle, which makes receiving all of the votes to unanimously win any player award nearly impossible, but these three players all unanimously won the Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
