The city of Dallas has a long tennis tradition. After years without a regular ATP stop, the modern Dallas Open returned in 2022 and has grown in stature since.

Founded in 2022 following relocation from New York, it is one of the earliest tour stops each season, staged in early February. Beginning in 2025, the Dallas Open was upgraded from ATP 250 to ATP 500 status and moved to the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco.

As an ATP 500 tournament, it now offers increased ranking points, a stronger player field, and greater global visibility within the early-season indoor swing.


2026 most recent winners:

In the 2026 singles final, Ben Shelton defeated Taylor Fritz 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 to capture the title in a tightly contested three-set battle. The result highlighted the continued strength of American men's tennis on home soil.

In doubles, Thomaz Arribage and Albano Olivetti won the championship, defeating Horacio Zeballos and Marcel Granollers 6-3, 7-6 to secure the trophy.


History:

Dallas previously hosted an ATP tournament in 1983, the Paine Webber Classic, staged that September as a replacement for the Denver Open. Separately, the city was home to the prestigious WCT year-end Finals from 1971 to 1989.

The current Dallas Open traces its lineage through several relocations. The Memphis Open, which ran from 1975 to 2017, moved to New York as the New York Open from 2018 to 2020. The tournament was then relocated to Dallas, where it launched in 2022.


Status and format:

As of 2025, the Dallas Open is an ATP 500 tournament featuring men's singles and doubles. The event operated as an ATP 250 from 2022 through 2024 before receiving its upgrade.

The tournament is played on indoor hard courts and typically attracts a mix of established top-20 players, rising American talents, and strong doubles specialists.

2025-present: Ford Center at The Star in Frisco (Dallas Cowboys headquarters), indoor hard courts.

The move to the Ford Center expanded seating capacity and enhanced the event's presentation, aligning with its new ATP 500 designation and reinforcing Dallas as a significant stop on the ATP calendar.
