About Becher Chase

This is the same course that the Grand Natinoal is run on, and this event serves as a trial for that big race.

Many horses that do well in the Becher Chase go on to be prominent in the Grand National. The two winners of the Becher Chase have gone on to win the Grand National - Amberleigh House and Silver Birch.

The event is currently sponsored by William Hill and usually has a purse of a little over one hundred thousand pounds.

The event is open to horses aged 6 years and up.

Past Winners

The most successful horses in the history of the race - Into the Red, Hello Bud, Walk in the Mill and Vieux Lion Rouge - have won twice.

The most successful jockeys all have two wins in the race, while the most successful trainer, Nigel Twiston-Davies, has trained six horses to victory.

The very first winner of the race (1992) was Kildimo.
