Troy State Scored Unprecedented 258 Points Against DeVry. On January 12th, 1992, the 3-15 DeVry Hoyas travelled to take on the 12-3 Troy State Trojans in a Division II men's basketball game.

The 2,000 people who were in attendance that evening had no clue that they were about to see a record fall - most points in a single college basketball game.

Let's set the table here for a moment.

Troy State was a really, really good Division II team, and they would soon be making the jump to Division I.

DeVry, on the other hand, was not very good at all.

Troy State, who were coached by Don Maestri, had a very unique offensive system that completely wore down the other team.

Troy State would immediately attempt to steal the ball from their opponents - if this didn't work, Troy State would simply concede the basket instead of playing defense.

In addition, Troy State would attempt to run their opponents off of the court by making frequent substitutions and running down the court with reckless abandon. Many opponents couldn't deal with this style of play and would simply run out of gas quickly.

This is what happened to DeVry on January 12th, 1992, as they were simply blown off the court.
