Tiger Woods Has Been Forced To Withdraw With Back Injury

A constant in the golfing world over the past decade plus - Tiger Woods has been the favorite to win every major tournament that he has been involved in.

In years past, the only hope of someone else being favored in a major was if Tiger was on the sidelines due to personal issues (his personal issues a few years ago put a significant dent in his career and image) or injury.

While Tiger Woods has certainly seen his game tail off in recent years, he is still the favorite to win any tournament that he enters.

Thankfully for the rest of the field at the 2014 US Masters in Augusta, Georgia, Tiger Woods will be on the sidelines once again due to a back injury. Woods has been hobbling around the golf over the past number of weeks and finally decided to pull the trigger on back surgery in order to properly fix the problem. Woods was devastated to miss the Masters, but he would have been severely hampered by his injury had he decided to play.

With Woods' absence from the event, the tournament is now wide open for somebody else to win.

The player with the best current odds of winning? Rory McIlroy, who is currently listed at 7/1 to win.

Next up? Adam Scott, who won the 2013 Masters. Can he repeat as winner? If he does manage to win his second Green jacket, the payout will be 9/1.

Here are some other names of interest who have high expectations from the bookmakers to win:

Phil Mickelson, 12/1
Jason Day, 14/1
Dustin Johnson, 16/1
Henrik Stenson, 18/1
Bubba Watson, 20/1
Matt Kuchar, 22/1

Will a big name such as Phil Mickelson or Rory McIlroy win this year's Masters, or will somebody win don the Green Jacket?
