One of the most prestigious (and toughest) tournaments in golf is set to begin next week when the 2012 British Open gets underway. This year's tournament is set to take place at the Royal Lytham and St. Annes Golf Club in Lancashire, England.

The British Open, or "The Open Championship" as it is formally known as, has been around since 1860, which makes it the oldest of the four major golfing championships.

The British Open is always a fun tournament thanks to the unique courses (relative to most North American courses anyways) and the interesting weather. Scores can wildly fluctuate based on what Mother Nature has in store for the golfers on any given day.

Thanks to his recent hot streak, Tiger Woods currently has the best odds of winning the 2012 British Open. Tiger is currently listed at +7600 to win.

Here are the 10 players who currently have the best chance (at least in the eyes of the bookmakers) of winning this year's British Open:

Tiger Woods, +600
Lee Westwood, +1600
Rory McIlroy, +1800
Luke Donald, +1800
Padraig Harrington, +1800
Graeme McDowell, +3300
Martin Kaymer, +3300
Sergio Garcia, +3300
Justin Rose, +3300
Phil Mickelson, +4000

Some other interesting odds that I picked out:

Ernie Els, +4000
Bubba Watson, +5000
Vijay Singh, +15000
John Daly, +17500
