Anthony Gordon’s Nine Touchdowns: A Record-Breaking Day. Imagine turning in one of the best single-game performances in the HISTORY of college football and losing.

This is exactly what happened to quarterback Anthony Gordon on September 21st, 2019.

The 3-1 Washington State Cougars were playing host to UCLA. The #19 ranked Cougars were expected to win the game, though the game was expected to be a shootout.

This is precisely what we got, as the Bruins ended up winning the game by a score of 67-63.

The two quarterbacks in the game - Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Anthony Gordon - combined for 14 throwing touchdowns.

Anthony Gordon has an astonishingly good day for Washington State, as he threw for nine touchdowns - a school record.

Gordon finished the day 41-for-61 with 570 passing yards, nine passing touchdowns and two interceptions.

Roughly halfway through the third quarter, Washington State was comfortably up by a score of 49-17 and seemed to be in complete control.

UCLA came storming back, scoring four touchdowns in five minutes to make the game 49-46 early in the fourth quarter.

Washington State immediately answered with a 33 yard touchdown pass from Gordon to Easop Winston.

UCLA would score two touchdowns in the next three minutes, including a 69-yard punt return by Kyle Philips.

Washington State would respond over a minute later when Gordon threw a 65-yard touchdown pass to Max Borghi.

UCLA, however, would get the last laugh, as they would march down the field and score a touchdown with just a minute remaining in the game. Washington State wouldn't be able to answer, and UCLA walked away with the victory.

This game would likely be the highlight of Gordon's football playing career, as he was a senior in 2019 and wasn't able to catch on in the NFL.

Unfortunately for Gordon, his incredible nine touchdown day ended up resulting in a loss, which is almost impossible to fathom.
