This was a battle of two ranked teams, as Alabama was ranked #25 heading into the game, while the Golden Gophers were the #14 ranked team in the nation.
Little did the people tuning in to watch know that they were about to witness one of the most bizarre situations in the history of college basketball, as Alabama would play nearly 11 minutes with just three players.

The bizarre situation transpired with roughly 14 minutes left in the second half.
The game was a close one, and players on both teams were heated.
The situation started when Nate Mason and Collin Sexton started mouthing off at each other. The two players received technical fouls. Mason couldn't get control of his emotions, and he continued to scream at Sexton. The refs threw Mason out of the game after he received a second technical foul.
A few seconds later, a shoving match between Dupree McBrayer and Dazon Ingram erupted. Unfortunately for Alabama's team, the entirety of the bench ran onto the floor to support their teammate. While these players didn't get involved in the fight, the rules called for their automatic ejection from the game.
So, Alabama was left with just the five players that they had playing on the floor. Not a terrible situation, but it was about to get worse.
With roughly 12 minutes left in the game, Dazon Ingram fouled out, leaving Alabama with just four players.
A few seconds later, John Petty would go down with an ankle injury, leaving Alabama with just three players.
The game continued.
