Game Preview: Elche vs. Barcelona - Spanish La Liga - Sunday, 11/05/2014

After Real Madrid lost to Valladolid on Wednesday and fell out of the title race, the path opened again for Barcelona to win the league this season. If Barca manage to win vs. Elche on Sunday, things will line up for an epic, winner takes all, last round matchup vs. Atletico Madrid next week.

First things first, Barcelona have to get three points on their visit to Elche, who are currently in fourteenth place in the Spanish La Liga tables.

Barcelona are limping these days. After two narrow victories vs. Athletic Bilbao and Villarreal, Barca most recently drew with Getafe 2-2 at home. Lionel Messi is not at his best, and the team manager, Tata Martino, is on his way out of the club at the season's end. It is the perfect time for Barca to turn it on and try to win the league this season. They lost the Cup final to Real Madrid and in the Champions League quarter finals they were booted out by Atletico Madrid.

Elche are coming into this match fighting for survival in the Spanish La Liga and will for sure try and get something out of this game. They most recently beat Malaga away, with the score of 0-1. In the two matches before, they drew with Levante and lost to Atletico Madrid.
