Mario Balotelli Signs a Four-and-a-half-year Contract with AC Milan After Passing Medical Exam

AC Milan, who allowed their striker Pato to leave for his homeland and play for SC Corinthians earlier in the transfer window, filled the gap up front by signing Mario Balotelli from the English Premier League club Manchester City.

Balotelli, the controversial Italian international who is know for his antics off the pitch just as much as he is known for his performance on the pitch signed a four-and-a-half year contract with Milan for €23m and will wear the No45 shirt.

Mario Balotelli passed the medical exam on Wednesday and the move is now official.

Balotelli made his name playing for city rivals Inter Milan before signing with Manchester City who he won the FA Cup and the Premier League with. Balotelli also scored three goals for Italy at the UEFA EURO 2012, most famous one being his second goal against Germany in the semi-finals.

AC Milan face Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 and are currently in 5th place in Serie A after 22 matches with 37 points.

Will Balotelli be able to find his form at AC Milan after spending so much time on the bench at Manchester City?

We will find out very soon. The first leg vs. Barcelona takes place at San Siro on February 20th, 2013. Milan are also battling in Serie A for a spot in the UEFA Champions League next season.

Needless to say this transfer has made quite a buzz in the Italian and world football press.
