The Spanish sports news daily, AS, reported today that Cristiano Ronaldo's release clause at Real Madrid is set at mind-boggling €1 billion Euros, according to his agent.

This is by far the biggest release clause in football and it is highly unlikely that it will ever be triggered by any of the clubs interested in the services of CR7.

Ronaldo's agent, Jorge Mendes, has said that he no longer receives calls from clubs about his star player and that it is almost certain that Cristiano will retire at Real Madrid.

Barcelona's Lionel Messi has the second highest release clause set at €250m.
