Definition of Pasillo

What is the meaning of Pasillo in sports?

El Pasillo is a Spanish football term for Guard of Honour, a traditional sportsmanship move by teams recognizing the champions.

If Barcelona FC, for example, win the Spanish La Liga title with games remaining in the season, teams may choose to give the El Pasillo to it's players, recognizing them as champions.

El Pasillo is a sign of respect.

The custom is that at the start of the game, the opposing players stand in two lanes next to the entrance to the field, forming a tunnel, so the championship winning team can pass through, while being saluted.
