Werner is known for his blistering pace and lethal finishing abilities, while his work-rate is also highly-regarded. He appears so quick that he has been given the nickname "Turbo Timo" by German media sources. He's been clocked at 11.11 seconds over 100 meters, so clearly that name comes with some proof behind it.

Werner started his career at VfB Stuttgart, his hometown club. He blitzed through the youth teams to make his appearance for the senior side at only 17 years, 4 months and 25 days - the youngest ever for Stuttgart. When Stuttgart were relegated in 2016, he joined a newly promoted club in RB Leipzig.

At Leipzig, Werner would burst onto the international stage. He would go on goal-scoring streaks, as well as becoming the youngest player to make 200 appearances in the Bundesliga. In his last match as a Leipzig player, he scored a brace, becoming the club's record goalscorer, with 95 goals in all competitions. Meanwhile, he would make a series of appearances at the 2017 Confederations Cup for Germany that would win him the Golden Boot of the tournament.

The forward had made a move to Chelsea FC in 2019, where he looked to continue the successes he had while playing in Germany. After two years with the club "Turbo Timo" is now back at Lepizig.
