Sports Nicknames - Zeus

Travis Kelce is an American football player who is positioned at tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs. Rising from a 2-star potential in college to being named to the NFL's All-Decade Team of the 2010's, he has picked up the name "Zeus" from fans cheering him on.

Born in Westlake, Ohio, Kelce signed to play for University of Cincinnati with his brother Jason Kelce. After a couple of years in and out of the starting line-up, he had his most successful season in 2013. He was named winner of the College Football Performance Awards Tight End of the Year and promptly drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs.

From 2014 onward, Kelce played 14 or more regular season games every season, regularly getting above 1,100 yards. From 2015 onwards, Kelce and the Chiefs never missed out on a playoffs spot. This culminated in their run and subsequent Super Bowl LIV victory over the San Francisco 49ers. In that game, he caught six passes for 43 receiving yards and had a receiving touchdown.

Kelce became the longest serving Chiefs player in 2020 with the release of Dustin Colquitt in the COVID-stricken year. That same year, it was announced that he had signed a new deal worth $57 million taking him to 2025. He continued his fantastic form throughout the season, though it remains to be seen if he can help them to another Super Bowl victory.

Undoubtedly Travis "Zeus" Kelce is a legend among Kansas City fans. Yet, he has also shown that he can make it at the highest level and perform for just about a decade in the red and white of the Chiefs.
