Sports Nicknames - Pogboom

Paul Pogba is one of the most polarizing footballers in the modern day. A youth product from Manchester United, he left for Juventus in Italy and was brilliant. However, on his record return to England, he has not reached anywhere near the same sort of form.

Pogba started his career with Le Havre, being there for only a short time before being picked up by Manchester United's youth teams. However, he would only last a couple of years at the club before leaving on a free to Juventus in Italy. It was here that Pogba would become a world renowned name.

Pogba helped Juve to the Scudetto every year he was there, winning a Golden Boy award as well. He helped the club to the Champions League final in 2015 and won 2 Coppa Italia titles. During this time, his dynamic play and long legs earned him the nicknames of "Pogboom" and Il Polp Paul (Paul the Octopus), respectively. All of this earned him a then-record world transfer to Manchester United for €105 million (£89.3 million).

His time at United has been tumultuous. The English media has expected great things of him, which have not really materialized. Injuries and poor form have disrupted any sort of bright sparkles that he has shown. While this part of his club career has not been very successful, his France career has been. He's made 75 appearances for the first team, helping them to reach the final of the 2016 Euro Championships and even win the 2018 World Cup.

At 28 (at the time of writing), Pogba still has time to make a large mark on the game. However, it seems unlikely that it will happen with Manchester United. Where his next move will come is yet to be seen, but we shall see how it turns out.
