Sports Nicknames - Can't-Miss-Swiss, Swiss Miss



Martina Hingis, a former Swiss professional tennis player, was known for her exceptional skills and all the success she had in the game.

Hingis was a prodigy, exhibiting talent at a very young age. She turned professional at just 14 and quickly made a mark in the tennis world.

Hingis won five Grand Slam singles titles, including three Australian Opens, one Wimbledon and one US Open. She also did excellent in doubles, winning multiple Grand Slam titles in women's and mixed. One of her highly popular and successful partnerships was with Anna Kournikova. The two were known as the "Spice Girls of Tennis."

Hingis became the World No. 1 in singles at the age of 16, making her the youngest player to achieve this in the history of the WTA. She held the top spot for a total of 209 weeks.

Known for her tactical intelligence, Hingis was not the most powerful player on the circuit but was highly regarded for her technique, court coverage, and strategy. Her Swiss heritage and successful career earned her nicknames "Can't-miss-Swiss" and "Swiss Miss."

In 2013, she was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
