Marco Reus is a German professional football player, a star of Borussia Dortmund and the German national team.

Marco Reus was born and raised in Dortmund and the Borussia youth program is where he started his career as a footballer. In 2009 he signed a professional contract with Monchengladbach and returned to Borussia Dortmund in 2012. He has been there since. He has played under famous managers Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel, as well as played next to stars such as Robert Lewandowski and Mario Gotze.

Marco Reus debuted for the German U-21 team in 2009 and the year later for the senior team where he has represented his nation on 47 occasions.

Reus is a fast player, highly technical and able to provide a precise pass. He is a hard-worker and fits excellently in high pressing and counter attacking formations. (See Gagenpress.)

Marco earned his nickname "Woody" after the cartoon character Woody Woodpecker. His teammates poked fun as his head bobbing during runs resembled the famous bird. It is interesting to note also that his parents named him after the famous Dutch footballer Marco van Basten.
