Sports Nicknames - El Tigre

Radamel Falcao was once one of the most feared strikers on the planet. During his years at Porto, Monaco and Atletico Madrid, he was a consistent goal-scorer and helped the teams to many titles. However, a horrific ACL injury and a torrid stint in English football stops him from being considered one of the best of the generation.

Falcao started making his name at Argentinian club River Plate, earning him a move to Portuguese club FC Porto. Here was where the world started to take notice, as he helped Porto win the Primiera Liga, Europa League and multiple Taca de Portugal titles.

Such was Falcao's success with Porto that Atletico Madrid paid up to €50 million for him, making him their most expensive player ever. El Tigre, the nickname that he had picked up in Argentina, had arrived in Spain. He arrived in style in his 2 years at the club, scoring 70 goals in 91 appearances and helping the club to a Europa League title. However, these would be the only two years in Spain for the Colombian.

However, his transfer to Monaco didn't go as planned. In his first season, he suffered an ACL injury. He spent the next two seasons on loan to Chelsea and Manchester United, seemingly without that goalscoring touch he had before. However, on his return to Monaco, he helped the club to it's first league title since 2000. He's currently playing in Turkey at Galatasaray.

El Tigre could be one of the toughest strikers on the planet to face on his day. The all-time leading goal scorer for the Colombian national team found great success in his prime, but since his Atleti days he has found such form hard to come by. Yet, those days are still fondly remembered by Atleti fans and fans of good strikers everywhere.
