Anssumane "Ansu" Fati Vieira is one of the most exciting prospects in the world of football, although his current season has been disrupted by injury. At only the age of 18, he had broken into both the Barcelona and Spanish first teams.



Fati was originally born in Guinea-Bissau before moving to Seville at the age of 6. Originally playing for some local Sevilla youth teams, Fati moved to the famous "La Masia" of Barcelona in 2012. Here he would play and develop for the next 7 years, drawing praise from youth coaches and fans who saw him play.

By 2019, Ansu Fati was offered a professional contract until 2022. He was almost immediately put into the first team, making his La Liga debut before he had even played for the reserves. He became the second youngest player to debut for Barcelona. Less than a month later, he became the youngest ever Barcelona goal-scorer in a 2-2 draw to Osasuna.

These young records would continue: the youngest to score a brace in La Liga, the youngest to feature for Barcelona in the Champions League, the youngest to score and assist in the same match and so on. In the 2020-21 season, he was even named as the La Liga Player of the Month for 2020. However, this season came to an end when he tore his meniscus in his left knee.

Capped as a full Spanish international in 2020, Fati is undoubtedly one of the brightest players for Barcelona's and Spain's future. One can only hope that his future performances are not damaged too much by this season's injury.
