Sports Nicknames - Road Runner

Alphonso Davies is one of the most exciting prospects in world football at the moment. Born in a refugee camp in Ghana before moving to Canada, the player shot straight up to MLS and now plays for German giants Bayern Munich. He's known for his absurd pace (sometimes nicknamed the "Road Runner" by the media) and great crossing ability, becoming a crucial part of Bayern's squad at the age of 20.

Davies played for the local Edmonton Strikers before playing for the Vancouver Whitecaps youth teams. At only the age of 15, he signed his first professional contract with the Whitecaps before making his debut at the same age. He played only 2 years for Vancouver before being scouted by European talent scouts. Bayern Munich ended up winning the race for his signature in 2019.

In his time at Bayern, he broke into the first team within 2 years and has won the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal every year he's been there. He's also won a Champions League title in 2019-20. All the while, Davies has broken records with the Canadian national side. He became the youngest player to appear for the Canadian national side (at 16), the youngest to score for Canada (16), the first player born in the 2000s to score at an international tournament and the youngest to score at the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Davies has had an almost unprecedented level of success so far. At age 20, he has won more trophies than most players can dream of. The only question now is how high the ceiling can go for this young Canadian.
