Where to Bet on Golovkin vs Canelo Alvarez?

The fight that fans have been wanting to see for years is finally going to happen, as Gennady Golovkin is set to step into the ring on September 16th to take on Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.

The Sports King, while sitting at his office desk, is presenting a great boxing promo for sports bettors world-wide.

Shortly after Alvarez pummelled Julio Cesar Chavez Jr on Saturday night to win via unanimous decision, "Canelo" revealed that he had agreed to fight "GGG" on September 16th. The fight between Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez is likely the biggest fight that the boxing world could put on right now, aside from Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather.

Canelo Alvarez will enter the fight with a nearly perfect record of 49-1-1, with his only loss coming at the hands of Floyd Mayweather. Alvarez has been dominant since that loss, notching wins against the likes of Amir Khan, Miguel Cotto and James Kirkland.

Gennady Golovkin, who will enter September's fight nearly 10 years the elder of Alvarez, has a perfect record of 37-0-0, with 33 of those wins coming via knockout. Golovkin owns a pile of titles, including the WBC World Middleweight title, the WBA Super World Middleweight title and the IBF World Middleweight title.

Golovkin is one of the most ferocious knockout artists that boxing has right now and will be looking to stand toe-to-toe against Alvarez on September 16th.

Here are the current betting odds (as of the time this article was written) for this fight - please note that the odds are subject to change:

Gennady Golovkin 1.61
Saul Alvarez, 2.30

Having said that, Alvarez is very close to a coin flip - in short, this should be a very competitive fight.

Many people wrote boxing off in recent years, though the last few weeks have provided plenty of front page headlines for the sport. With Golovkin/Alvarez and possibly McGregor/Mayweather to close out the year, boxing certainly isn't even close to being dead.
