The Sony Open is one of the biggest tournaments of the new golf season, as it is a full-field event with more than $6.5 million in total prize money.

The tournament is held at the Waialae Country Club in Oahu, Hawaii, and attracts many golfers who are looking to kick off their season in a pleasant locale.

The golf season kicks off in a pleasant location of Hawaii. There will be a total of 144 players in the field, including some recognizable names, including the likes of Justin Thomas, Patrick Reed and Webb Simpson.

Matt Kuchar won the 2019 event and will be back to defend his championship. Last year Matt Kuchar shot a -22, beating Andrew Putname by four strokes. Kuchar's strong week was started by back-to-back 63's on Thursday and Friday, and he never looked back.

The tournament, which started in 1965, has an impressive list of former winners, including the likes of Zach Johnson, Vijah Singh, Ernie Else and Paul Azinger.
