Anderson Silva is one of MMAs most legendary fighters.Anderson Silva is widely regarded as being one of the top mixed martial artists of all time.

Silva had a 15-fight winning streak in the UFC where he either won the title (Rich Franklin) or successfully defended the title. Add to that total Silva's victory against Chris Leben in his debut with the promotion, and Anderson Silva had a 16-fight winning streak in the UFC.

In this day and age, given the parity in talent and abundance of coaching, breaking the 16-fight winning streak that Silva enjoyed will be practically impossible to do.

Silva has always been known for his phenomenal striking, as he seemingly moved two speeds faster than his opponents. To see an illustration of his speed, look no further than his fight against Forrest Griffin at UFC 101, where Silva completely clowned Forrest to win via first round stoppage. Griffin, a former champion, was never the same after that fight.

Silva was also known for his controversial efforts, as his fights against Demian Maia and Thales Leites drew widespread condemnation from fans. His fight against Maia was especially bad, with UFC President Dana White declining to put the title on Silva after the fight.

Anderson Silva went from star to superstar as a result of his two fights against Chael Sonnen. Silva needed a foil to become a superstar in the UFC, and Chael Sonnen would prove to be the ultimate villain.

One of the most unbelievable moments of Silva's career came when he submitted Sonnen in the fifth round of their first fight at UFC 117 in August of 2010. Sonnen was absolutely smashing Silva in that fight, only to be submitted by a triangle in the closing minutes. This fight cemented Silva as a fan favourite, and he would go on to smash Sonnen in their rematch later in his career.

While Silva has had uneven results as of late, he has been competitive in all of his fights. In fact, you can easily make the argument that he defeated Michael Bisping in February of 2016.

Silva, despite testing positive for banned substances following the Nick Diaz fight, will always be considered one of the legends of the sport.

Anderson Silva vs Jared Cannonier Betting Thoughts:

Cannonier is certainly susceptible to knockouts, though he possesses knockout power as well.

Cannonier is pretty hard to put away, as he was able to battle to the final bell against guys like Jan Blachowicz and Glover Teixeira, both of whom possess knockout power.

Silva will need to use his speed and slick striking to outpoint Cannonier, as Silva doesn't seem to have enough on his strikes to finish his opponents these days.
