Event – Carolina Hurricanes at Toronto Maple Leafs

Time & Date – 7 pm, Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

Venue – Air Canada Centre, Toronto, Ontario

The Hurricanes are on their way to Toronto, and happy to be leading the season series 2-1. November 6th saw them start things off with a 3-2 loss on home ice, but they quickly caught up and then surpassed the Leafs with a 6-5 shootout win at home on November 19th and a 4-2 win in Ontario on January 12th. Last season Carolina won the series three games to one. We’ll soon find out if the boys from Raleigh can do it again.

Established in 1972 as the New England Whalers, relocated to Hartford as a part of the NHL seven years later, and based out of Carolina as the Hurricanes since 1997, the visiting team won its 3rd division championship, its 2nd conference championship, and its 1st league championship in 2006. The Carolina Hurricanes have made it to the playoffs 20 times including seven appearances out of New England and eight out of Hartford. Their latest postseason occurred last year, and was ended by the Pittsburgh Penguins after four games in the conference finals.

Established in 1917 as the Toronto Blueshirts, renamed the Arenas in 1918, the St. Patricks in 1919, and the Maple Leafs in 1927, and a part of the NHL from the beginning, the home team won its 5th division championship in 2000, is working hard for a fifth opportunity to secure its first conference championship, and won its 13th league championship in 1967. The Toronto Maple Leafs have made it to the playoffs 64 times including one appearance as the Blueshirts and three as the St. Patricks. Their latest postseason occurred in 2004, and was ended by the Philadelphia Flyers after six games in the conference semifinals.
