Portugal Looks To Build on Success of Euro 2016 Win

Portugal, led by the boot of Cristiano Ronaldo, will enter the current round of World Cup qualifying brimming with confidence.

After all, Portugal just shocked the world by winning the Euro 2016 tournament a few months ago. Nobody expected Portugal to win - despite some lacklustre early round play and an injury to Ronaldo in the finals, Portugal managed to close out the victory to take down the Euro 2016 title.

Portugal will now turn their attention to the current round of World Cup qualifying, which runs until October of 2017.

Portugal and Switzerland occupy Group B, which looks like this:

Portugal
Switzerland
Hungary
Faroe Islands
Latvia
Andorra

There are 13 spots available in the European section of World Cup qualifying for 2018, which is the highest number of spots available of any region.

Teams such as Faroe Islands and Andorra will be non-factors in the group - in reality, Portugal has one of the easiest groups and should advance easily.

They start, however, with probably their toughest game on Tuesday, as they will be travelling to take on Switzerland.

Here are the current odds for Tuesday's match:

Switzerland, 2.80
Draw, 3.10
Portugal, 2.90

As you can see, Switzerland has a tiny advantage, though none of the results are better than even money to take place.

In reality, both Portugal and Switzerland would probably be happy with a draw in this match, as they will face some extremely easy competition in the later Group Stage matches.

Who do you think will win on Tuesday?
