Mitrione vs Nelson Betting Odds

Roy "Big Country" Nelson will look to win his second fight in a row when he faces off against Matt Mitrione in the Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale on Saturday night.

Nelson was originally supposed to square off against Shane Carwin in this event, but Carwin was forced to pull out due to injury. Mitrione apparently offered up his services for this fight, and the UFC granted his wish and put him into the main event slot to fight Nelson.

Nelson's last three fights:

Dave Herman (Win, Knockout)
Fabricio Werdum (Loss, Decision)
Mirko Filipovic (Win, Knockout)

Mitrione's last three fights:

Cheick Kongo (Loss, Decision)
Christian Morecraft (Win, Knockout)
Tim Hague (Win, Knockout)

This is most certainly the toughest fight of Mitrione's career, as Nelson has a wealth of experience, an iron chin and a powerful right hand.

The problem for Mitrione in this fight is that he can't honestly claim an advantage in any single area. Nelson is almost certainly the better striker. Nelson is fantastic on the ground. Nelson, despite his size, has solid cardio.

For that reason, Roy "Big Country" Nelson is a sizeable favorite in this fight. Here are the odds as of this second:

Roy Nelson, -260
Matt Mitrione, +200

These odds mean that a $260 bet on Nelson would yield a total profit of $100, while a $100 bet on Mitrione would yield a profit of $200.
