The New England Patriots will travel to Detroit to do battle against the Lions on Thursday, August 22nd. This game will officially kick off the third week of NFL preseason football.

Week 3 of the preseason means that the starters from both teams will likely play a full half of football before being pulled out of the line-ups.

New England is currently 2-0 in the preseason so far, having outscored their opponents 56-43, while Detroit is 1-1.

Heading into Thursday's game, Detroit is a small favorite to win:

New England Patriots, +2.5, -110
Detroit Lions, -2.5, -110

The over/under is currently set at 46 points:

Over 46 points, -110
Under 46 points, -110

What does the -110 mean? It means that if you wanted to bet on the over 46 point line, you would need to wager $110 in order to win $100 back.

The "moneyline", which is the odds to win the game straight up, hasn't been released as of yet. Based on the spread, you can safely assume that the Lions will be about a -135 favorite, while the Patriots will be about a +115 or +120 underdog.

The Patriots suffered a scare earlier in the season when Tom Brady injured his knee, but the injury wasn't as bad as was first feared. Brady has been practicing with his team this week and is expected to play on Thursday night in Detroit.
