Dallas survived the first round of the playoffs, winning 34-14 against the visiting Philadelphia Eagles. Now the Cowboys head to Minneapolis for round two, and they haven’t had the pleasure of seeing the Vikings since 2007. Minnesota went out to Texas for the October 21st regular season game, and was sent home with a 24-14 loss.

Established in and officially playing since 1960, Dallas earned its 21st division title this season, its 10th conference title in the 1995 season, and its 5th league title also in the 1995 season at Super Bowl XXX (30). The Cowboys entered their 30th postseason in the first round last Saturday. Their most recent playoff appearance occurred in the 2007 season and ended in the second round against the New York Giants.

Established in and officially playing since 1961, Minnesota earned its 18th division title this season, its 4th conference title in the 1976 season, and its 1st league title in the 1969 season. The Vikings enter their 26th postseason in the second round on Sunday. Their most recent playoff appearance occurred last season and ended in the first round against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Here’s a look at what Dallas and Minnesota did with the 2009 regular season.

DALLAS COWBOYS

With an 11-5 record, the Cowboys finished 1st in the NFC East and secured the #3 playoff seed in their conference. The offense put up 43 touchdowns with an average of 399.4 yards per game, while the defense let in only 28 touchdowns with an average of 315.9 yards per game. Quarterback Tony Romo was 347-of-550 for a 63.1 percent completion rate, running back Marion Barber led in rushing with 932 yards, wide receiver Miles Austin led in receiving with 1,320 yards, and linebacker Bradie James led in defense with 113 tackles.

MINNESOTA VIKINGS

With a 12-4 record, the Vikings finished 1st in the NFC North and secured the #2 playoff seed in their conference. The offense put up 56 touchdowns with an average of 379.6 yards per game, while the defense let in only 36 touchdowns with an average of 305.5 yards per game. Quarterback Brett Favre was 363-of-531 for a 68.4 percent completion rate, running back Adrian Peterson led in rushing with 1,383 yards, wide receiver Sidney Rice led in receiving with 1,312 yards, and linebacker Chad Greenway led in defense with 99 tackles.

Will Dallas be successful in the second round and get a shot at its 11th conference title, or will Minnesota be the one to advance and get a shot at its 5th?

The 2008 season saw the Cowboys finish 3rd in their division with a 9-7 record.

The Vikings finished last season 1st in their division with a 10-6 record. They hosted the Eagles in the wild card round, but lost 26-14.
