Nate Marquardt vs Jake Ellenberger Odds

Jake Ellenberger will welcome Nate Marquardt back to the UFC this Saturday as the two do battle at UFC 158: Diaz vs St. Pierre.

The Ellenberger vs Marquardt fight came together after Rory MacDonald suffered an injury and was forced to pull out of his scheduled fight against Carlos Condit. Ellenberger was originally supposed to fight Johny Hendricks at UFC 158, but the UFC decided to move Hendricks into the Condit fight after the MacDonald injury. This left Ellenberger without an opponent, and the UFC decided to slide the returning Nate "The Great" Marquardt into the slot.

Marquardt will be making his first appearance in the UFC since UFC 128. Marquardt was cut from the UFC after running into some issues with his testosterone levels, and eventually made his way over to Strikeforce, where he ended up winning the Welterweight title. Marquardt lost his final Strikeforce fight to Tarec Saffiedine, and will be looking to get back into the win column when he squares off against Ellenberger.

Ellenberger, on the other hand, is looking to build off of the momentum of a win over Jay Hieron at UFC on FX: Browne vs Bigfoot. Prior to that fight, Ellenberger had had a long winning streak snapped by Martin Kampmann. Ellenberger is a dangerous fighter with knockout power, and was, at one time, considered to be one of the top fighters in the UFC's Welterweight division.

As of this moment, Jake Ellenberger is a small favorite to win on Saturday night. Here are the current betting odds:

Jake Ellenberger, -170
Nate Marquardt, +140

These odds mean that a successful $170 bet on Ellenberger would return a total profit of $100, while a successful $100 bet on Marquardt would return a total profit of $140.

Both Ellenberger and Marquardt will be looking to recapture lost momentum on Saturday night. Who will emerge the victor?
