San Antonio Spurs Now 2.62 To Win NBA Title

Earlier today, the Golden State Warriors announced that reigning MVP Steph Curry will miss the next two weeks of the NBA playoffs due to a knee injury.

Thankfully for the Warriors, an anticipated Western Conference Finals match-up against the San Antonio Spurs is more than two weeks away. Unfortunately for the Warriors, however, is the fact that they will have to beat the Los Angeles Clippers without their best player in the line-up, which will be no easy feat.

The Spurs and Cavaliers, who are two of the favourites to win the NBA title this year, now see a glimmer of hope. The Warriors, who were 73-9 in the regular season, are now seen as being vulnerable thanks to the injury to Curry.

Prior to the injury to Curry, the odds to win the NBA title looked like this:

Golden State Warriors, 1.63
San Antonio Spurs, 4.00
Cleveland Cavaliers, 4.50

Now, as the result of the injury, the odds look like this:

Golden State Warriors, 2.37
San Antonio Spurs, 2.62
Cleveland Cavaliers, 4.00

Everyone talked about the Warriors this year, though it needs to be mentioned that the Spurs turned in one of the best regular season performances of all time and are nearly unbeatable at home.

The Cavaliers, on the other hand, seem to be clicking at the perfect time and are healthy and out for blood.

Without Steph Curry, the Warriors are going to have a very hard time repeating as NBA champions. After all, the team has put together an exhausting run as they secured their first NBA title and set the all-time single season record for wins.

It stands to reason that they might not be able to withstand the withering assault of another long post-season run, especially without their best player in the line-up.
