The Jets have come out alive after two rounds in the playoffs, the first with a 24-14 result against the Bengals in Cincinnati, and the second with a 17-14 result against the Chargers in San Diego. Now New York has an invite to Indiana, and, after sending the Ravens back to Baltimore with a 20-3 loss, the Colts are more than happy for their next test.
New York will be looking for a repeat of the regular season, while Indianapolis will be looking to get even. The Jets visited the Colts on December 27th and went home with a 29-15 win.
Founded in 1959 and officially on the field a year later, New York won its 4th division championship in the 2002 season and its 1st league championship in the 1968 season at Super Bowl III (3). The Jets entered their 13th postseason in the first round on January 9th, and they’ll be eager to bring home the franchise’s first conference championship on Sunday. Their most recent playoff appearance took place in the 2006 season and ended in the first round against the New England Patriots.
Founded in and officially on the field since 1953, Indianapolis won its 13th division championship this season, its 6th conference championship in the 2006 season, and its 5th league championship also in the 2006 season at Super Bowl XLI (41). The Colts entered their 23rd postseason in the second round last Saturday. Their most recent playoff appearance took place last season and ended in the first round against the San Diego Chargers.

NEW YORK JETS
New York secured the #5 playoff seed in its conference after finishing 2nd in the AFC East with a 9-7 record. The offensive line brought in 37 touchdowns and found itself 20th in the league with an average of 321 yards per game, while the defensive line allowed only 26 touchdowns and found itself 1st in the league with an average of 252.3 yards per game. Quarterback Mark Sanchez earned a 53.8 percent completion rate after completing 196 out of 364 passes, running back Thomas Jones earned the top spot in rushing with 1,402 yards, wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery earned the top spot in receiving with 821 yards, and linebacker David Harris earned the crown in defense with 127 tackles.
INDIANAPOLIS COLTS
Indianapolis secured the #1 playoff seed in its conference after finishing 1st in the AFC South with a 14-2 record. The offensive line brought in 53 touchdowns and found itself 9th in the league with an average of 363.1 yards per game, while the defensive line allowed only 31 touchdowns and found itself 18th in the league with an average of 339.2 yards per game. Quarterback Peyton Manning earned a 68.8 percent completion rate after completing 393 out of 571 passes, running back Joseph Addai earned the top spot in rushing with 828 yards, wide receiver Reggie Wayne earned the top spot in receiving with 1,264 yards, and linebacker Clint Session earned the crown in defense with 102 tackles.
Will the Jets win their first conference title and get the chance to be 2-0 at the Super Bowl, or will the Colts win their seventh conference title and get the chance to be 3-1?
Last season New York finished with a 9-7 record and 3rd in its division.
Indianapolis finished the 2008 season with a 12-4 record and 2nd in its division. The Colts took a trip to San Diego for the wild card round, but lost 23-17 to the Chargers in overtime.
