Alabama Two Touchdown Favorites For Playoff Semi-Final GamePublished on December 30th, 2016 4:08 pm EST
College football fans are in for a New Year's Eve treat on Saturday night, as the two college football playoff games, Alabama vs Washington and Ohio State vs Clemson, will be taking place. The winners of the two games will then square off in the National Championship game, which is set for early January.
Alabama spent the entirety of the season with the #1 ranking, while Washington managed to earn their way into the playoffs late in the season. A number of things had to fall Washington's fall in order to make the playoffs (namely, Michigan losing to Ohio State), though they are certainly deserving participants after the season that they enjoyed. Given the issues that the Washington football program has had to endure over the past decade or so, fans of the team will surely relish Saturday's game against the best program in the country.
Alabama, with its army of players who will eventually suit up in the NFL, is understandably the favorite to win on Saturday afternoon. Here are the current betting odds:
Washington, +14, 10/11
Alabama, -14, 10/11
Over 53 points, 10/11
Under 53 points, 10/11
Washington to Win, 9/2
Alabama to Win, 1/6
It should be noted that most of the late money has been coming in on Washington. Now, this doesn't necessarily mean that bettors believe that Washington will win, though it does mean that many believe that Washington will keep things closer than what most people expect.
Alabama is a team that is well-coached and with no apparent holes. Washington is going to have the play the game of their lives if they want to have any chance of beating Alabama.
There is, however, always the chance of Alabama looking ahead to the finals and forgetting about Washington. You can be sure that Nick Saban will have his boys ready for Saturday's contest.
