De Randamie Enters Title Fight As Slight Favourite

The main event of UFC 208 will see Holly Holm square off against Germaine De Randamie in the promotion's first ever Women's Featherweight fight. The winner of the fight will be named the division's first ever champion.

Holly Holm is a former Bantamweight champion, as she will forever be known for her devastating knockout of "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey at UFC 193 in November of 2015. This ferocious knockout essentially ended Rousey's career and made Holly Holm a household name.

Despite her championship pedigree, Holm will be entering this fight as a slight underdog. Here are the current betting odds as of this moment:

Germaine De Randamie, -140
Holly Holm, +120

The winner of this fight will almost certainly square off against "Cyborg" in their very first title defence. The UFC had originally planned to put "Cyborg" in the promotion's first ever Women's Featherweight title fight, though "Cyborg" had to pass on the fight due to some recent weight cutting issues. There is no doubt that "Cyborg" is the future of the Women's Featherweight division, and there is no doubt that the UFC will be trying to put her into the next title fight.

Both Holm and De Randamie have extensive kickboxing backgrounds, so it seems unlikely that this fight will go to the ground very often.

Bookmakers are giving De Randamie the edge, though Holm undoubtedly has the experience advantage, especially in big fights (it doesn't get any bigger than Rousey or Tate on a Conor McGregor undercard).

I'm taking Holm based on her experience and coaching advantage in this fight.
