Floyd Mayweather Massive Favourite To Defeat Andre Berto

The announcement that Floyd Mayweather would be squaring off against Andre Berto in what is possibly going to be Floyd's last fight had people scratching their heads. Why not Amir Khan?

The fact of the matter, however, is that Mayweather will be finishing off his contract by stepping into the ring against Andre Berto. While the fight against Manny Pacquiao was at least somewhat competitive (on paper, anyways), nobody really believes that Berto has what it takes to beat Mayweather.

According to William Hill US, Floyd Mayweather opened as a -1600 favourite over Berto. Now, approximately a week later, the odds look like this:

Floyd Mayweather, -2400
Andre Berto, +1200

So, according to these odds, Floyd Mayweather has a 96.15% chance of beating Berto, while Berto has about a 7.69% chance of winning.

Floyd Mayweather is currently 48-0 and is regarded as one of the best fighters of all time, regardless of his various deficiencies as a person. Many believe that Floyd Mayweather will fight at least 50 times, with his 50th fight being a possible rematch against Manny Pacquiao.

Andre Berto, on the other hand, currently has a record of 30-3-0. Berto has gone 3-3 in his last five fights, with wins coming over Josesito Lopez and Steve Upsher Chambers, while his losses have come against Jesus Soto Karass, Robert Guerrero and Victor Ortiz.

This is a very winnable fight for Floyd Mayweather as he looks to wrap up his deal with Showtime/CBS. After making $300 million in his last fight, Mayweather doesn't seem too interested in fighting against someone who will be even remotely competitive. Instead, he chose an opponent that has virtually no chance of winning, much to the chagrin of many fans across the world.
