Event – Minnesota Wild at Edmonton Oilers

Time & Date – 7 pm, Friday, March 5th, 2010

Venue – Rexall Place, Edmonton, Alberta

The Minnesota Wild heads to Edmonton for the fourth regular season game out of six with the Oilers, and is happy to have won two out of the three games played thus far. Minnesota lost 5-2 in Edmonton on October 16th to begin with, but was quick to catch up and then take control on home ice with a 3-1 win on December 23rd and a 4-2 win on February 4th. Last season the Wild proved to be the better team after winning four times in the six-game series. We’ll soon see if the boys from St. Paul can guarantee at least a tie this year, or if the Oilers will even the score to 2-2.

Established in 2000 as a part of the NHL and based out of Minnesota as the Wild from the start, the visiting team won its 1st division title in 2008, is working hard for a second opportunity to secure its first conference title, and dreams about topping the league. The Minnesota Wild has made it to the playoffs 3 times, most recently in 2008 when six games against the Colorado Avalanche ended its postseason in the conference quarterfinals.

Established in 1972 as the Alberta Oilers, renamed the Edmonton Oilers a year later, and a part of the NHL since 1979, the home team won its 7th division title in 1987, its 7th conference title in 2006, and its 5th league title in 1990. The Edmonton Oilers have made it to the playoffs 25 times, most recently in 2006 when seven games against the Carolina Hurricanes made them the league’s runners-up.
