Event – Nashville Predators at Detroit Red Wings
Time & Date – 7:30 pm, Friday, March 5th, 2010
Venue – Joe Louis Arena, Detroit, Michigan
The Predators head to Michigan for their fourth game out of six with the Red Wings, and are determined to tie the season series before going any further. Nashville hosted the first two games with a mixed result, winning 3-1 on November 23rd and then being forced to swallow a 3-2 overtime loss on December 12th. Detroit’s turn to host gave the Red Wings control with a 4-2 victory on January 29th, and now gives them a second night of home ice advantage to very possibly extend their current one-game lead. Last year the Predators bounced back from a 2-1 season series to a triumphant 4-2. We’ll soon see if the Red Wings let them do it again.
Established in 1998 as a part of the NHL and based out of Nashville as the Predators from the start, the visiting team is working hard to earn its first title. The Nashville Predators have made it to the playoffs 4 times, most recently in 2008 when six games against the Red Wings left them behind in the conference quarterfinals.
Established in 1926 as the Detroit Cougars of the NHL, renamed the Falcons in 1930, and renamed the Red Wings two years after that, the home team earned its 18th division title last year, its 6th conference title also last year, and its 11th league title in 2008. The Detroit Red Wings have made it to the playoffs 57 times including one appearance as the Cougars and another as the Falcons. Their latest postseason took place last year and brought them to the finals where seven games against the Pittsburgh Penguins made them the league’s runners-up.
